JOLIET, Ill. -- You can thank Brian France for this.

Last week ahead of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in Daytona Beach, Fla., the CEO and chairman of NASCAR indicated that the sport is looking to update the season-ending Chase for the Sprint Cup.

France said nearly every option is on the table, with his goal being to create excitement nearly every step of the way during the ten-race run to the championship.

Friday at Chicagoland Speedway, ahead of Saturday night's Cup Series 400-miler, drivers were questioned about what should and shouldn't be done in terms of how NASCAR determines its champion.

Jeff Burton, ever the mayoral figure of the NASCAR garage, was quick to jump in.

"Right now, today, the intensity level and the pressure that is on us with eight races to go (before the Chase), and then there is another ten after that, is more than it has ever been because of the Chase," Burton said. "The more pressure there is on the competitors, the more fun it is for the fans to watch."
