Hello Nascar fans. Well this will be my second attempt to post a blog about yesterday’s race, I was almost finished last night when for some reason it just disappeared. I was very upset! So I decided to wait until today to try it again. So without further ado, this is the Dover recap.
Ok, before I get started I just want to thank all my new friends for adding me on Twitter. And big thanks to Genna for hanging out and chatting after the race. Your story about Kasey is I think my favorite so far. That was just a great story and very funny. I once asked Kenny Wallace for Jeff Gordon’s phone number which he responded that he had but wasnt going to give to me. haha. Darn.
The race started off without much ado, David Reutimann brought the field around to the green and the race was on.
Everything was cool and was running smoothly when the competition caution was out for caution 1 of the day. The caution was called by Nascar to inspect tire wear on the cars since a rain the day before had washed away some of the rubber that was on the track. When the race returned to green a few laps later, Elliott Sadler was shown as the race leader. But it’s short lived and Greg Biffle goes around Sadler for the lead.
Biffle continued to lead through the second caution of the day but as luck would have it for Johnson anyway, he makes the pass and takes the lead from Biffle.
With Johnson out front leading the way, without much of a challenge from any other drivers I might add, he continued to lead through the next couple of cautions briefly switching positions during pit stops. But lap 170 and still going strong. However some of the usual Sunday crowd was noticeably missing from any competitive challenging on the track. Kyle Busch who normally runs well and stays up front as often as anyone else was not having the best of luck and fell back several positions, never really a contender for the lead. My man Jeff got off to a rough start early on when he crashed during qualifying and had to go to the back of the field for the race start. Of course Dale Jr. I have to say had a much improved day. I hope the switch in crew chiefs is what he needs to get back on track and win some races.
At the halfway mark of the race, lap 200, Johnson was leading the #11 car of Denny Hamlin by just over 6 seconds and followed by the likes of Mark Martin and Carl Edwards. But that second place standing doesnt last long when Hamlin blows a tire and does major damage to the car and of course brings out caution 5 of the day. Johnson returns the field to green when the race restarts on lap 237.
Johnson continued to lead up until lap 276 the caution comes out again for debris on the track. Kenseth wins the race off pit road and brings the field to green when the race restarts on lap 281. But that too only last a short four laps when Johnson reclaims his lead from Kenseth.
Johnson continues leading through 2 more cautions and on lap 363 more debris brings out yet another caution, the 9th of the day, and this time Biffle wins the race off pit road and takes over the lead from Johnson.
Johnson finds himself back in 8th position after a pit malfunction caused him to be delayed and lose the lead. From this point on, it was a race for the finish.
Biffle is leading when with only 9 laps to go, here comes T-Stew and takes the lead. But wait, here comes Jimmy again who has managed to make his way back to front with no time to spare. Johnson tries twice to pass Stewart with out any success and with just 2 laps to go, he gives it one last try and makes it stick. Johnson cruises past Stewart and into victory lane as he takes the win in the Autism Speaks 400 at Dover.
Well there wasn’t a lot of spectacular crashes or anything but it was still a good clean race. Here are the top ten finishers in the Autism Speaks 400:

Man I will say one thing, I think Mark Martin is really just tearing up the tracks this season. I gotta say I would love to see Mark go all the way this year with Hendrick or even next year so Jimmy can make the history books. But I wouldnt be surprised if Mark pulls it off. Nobody deserves it more. Well anyway thats about it for now, it’s back to the books for me cause I have math class in the morning.
